Born in Nanjing in 1948with his family origin from Shanghai.Tao Shihu graduated from the Art Department of Inner Mongolia Normal Universitymajored in the oil painting. He acts as the director of China Artists Associationdeputy director of the Watercolor Art Committee of China Artists Associationvice chairman of Shandong Artists Associationpresident and professor of the Fine Arts Academy of Qingdao University.
His work Life won the Gold Award of the First China Watercolor Art Exhibition. His Yimeng Mountain Series—Charm of Autumn won the Silver Award of China Watercolor Painting Exhibition. His Hometown in Mind won a top award of the Eighth National Exhibition of Outstanding Artistic Works. His Setting Sun won the Recognition Award of the China Watercolor Painting Exhibition. His February was selected as the Judge’s Work of the Fourth National Watercolor Painting Exhibition. His Peaceful was selected as the Judge’s Work of the Ninth National Exhibition of Fine Arts. His Remaining Light at Dusk was selected as the Judge’s Work of the Fifth National Watercolor and Gouache Painting Exhibition. His Life (II) was exhibited on the “Shanghai Art Expo 2001” and his Warm Winter and others works were exhibited on the “Wind Blows and Water Rises—International Chinese Watercolor Classics Exhibition”.
Dozens of his works have been included in the Fifty Years Fine Arts of New ChinaComplete Works of Chinese Fine Arts and other albums of paintings. He published his personal album the Selected Watercolor Paintings by Tao Shihu.
